The world is a stitching canvas. Look at Jenny go! Even a barbed wire chain link fence can become a work of art. We had an absolute blast at Maker Faire last weekend. Amazing people, lots of incredible displays of performance art (a guy playing drums while knitting with his drumsticks!?), cute excited kids, art cars, hula hoops, crazy bikes, and plenty of DIY tech geekery. Have you heard of The Octopus Project yet? Oh, you will. They make deliriously stimulating music that will up your happy ante. And, they very kindly asked me to make an embroidered portrait of them that's now included as a poster insert in their just-released album, Hello Avalanche. I'm so thrilled about this that we're giving away three free copies of the album! Are you in Oklahoma City? Got no plans this weekend? Well, now you do! The Girlie Show 2007 is bigger and better than ever, featuring amazing artists, live music, fabulous food and free parking! The festivities kick off tonight, 8 to midnight, and continue tomorrow from noon to 5 p.m.
