Stitcher's Getaway
I took a mini vacation this week. That's why it's been kinda quiet around here. Sometimes a gal's just gotta run away and hide for awhile...and embroider.
Where do you run off to when you want to embroider / sew / breathe? Tell me about your favorite escapes in the comments!

Meg McG
I escape where ever I can put my headphones on. Gaucho, Stephan Grappelli and the Avett Brothers are my favorite artists to stitch to
Heidi
I want to go to there!
My favorite place is the closest coffee shop – a Caribou Coffee. Even though I don’t drink coffee, it’s relaxing to just sit in a room full of strangers.
Louise Felker
Sometimes, I curl up on the chaise lounge and catch up on my DVR. Doctor Who and Downtown Abbey are great to stitch to. My favorite places though are in the car (when my sweetie is driving) and at play rehearsal. I stitch while I direct and it helps to keep me sane. Plus the high school students love to see projects come together.

My favorite escape is The Maples Motel in Sandusky Ohio. Its a 3 hour ride from home and it sits between 2 nature reserve and a city park, all on the banks of Lake Erie.
Bekki
I enjoy running off to woods and stitching to nature’s soundtrack.

My sewing room is my escape from the rest of the world. I only embroidery with Finca Floss. I live alone which gives me many hours of pleasure to embroidery all day and into the night when I cannot sleep after my Chemo Cancer treatment every Wed and Thursday. I read my beautiful Embroidery Books word for word, also.

@Lydia It was a real place once upon a time…now it’s an abandoned building in the Mojave. ;)

I love the name of the shop in the picture! I do sort of hide away in my studio to stitch – mostly because my DH likes to watch TV and movies in a darkened room. Otherwise I would be stitching while he’s watching!

I love the photo. It reminded me of family vacations in the 60’s and Route 66. Is this a real place? When I need to get away, I usually go to another town and check out embroidery and quilt shop specialty stores for new ideas (and then of course, I have to buy something to stitch).

I have to wait until everybody leaves for work/college, then I turn on NPR, sit down in my comfy chair, and get to work. Until a cat wants out, or in, or out, or in…

Love the picture and great topic. I normally sit in my room, or in front of the TV. I actually feel weird watching TV now without anything in my hands. Does anyone stitch anything in particular when they need breathing space? I would be interested to know.

That is the best of both worlds! Now I’m wishing I too had a third-floor wonderland…

I’m lucky enough to live on a lake in Maine, so I love to stay home and enjoy the beauty around me. I also love Boston for a taste of the city from time to time.

My third floor bedroom is where I go to escape! After the grandchildren are in bed & exercises are done…45 mins. here & there….
