<b>WHAT:</b> <span class="il">Swap</span> and <span class="il">Sew</span> + <span class="il">Sweets</span>: A Clothing and Craft Supply <span class="il">Swap</span> + Yummy Bake Sale + Hang Out and Craft Session<br />

<b>WHEN:</b> Saturday, September 5th, 12pm-6pm<br />
<br />
<b>WHERE:</b> Space 12 - 3121 e. 12th St. 78702 (<a href="http://space12.org/" target="_blank">space12.org</a>)<br />

<b>WHY:</b> Have fun, get crafty and support the Space 12 Community Center and the Youth Services "<span class="il">Sew</span> What?" program.<br />

<b>HOW MUCH:</b> $5 suggested donation<br />

Clean out your closets and your craft supply drawers and come participate in a community <span class="il">swap</span>!
Bring any unwanted clothes - both adult and kids clothes welcome, and
crafting supplies like fabric, thread, yarn, notions, buttons, etc.
etc. Get rid of stuff you don't want and go home with new stuff that
you love. Any suits or professional clothing and accessories left over
at the end of the day will be donated to Dress for Success, a
non-profit organization that helps disadvantaged women get dressed up
for job interviews. Any crafty supplies left over will be donated to "<span class="il">Sew</span>
What?", a free after school sewing program for teens. Everything else
will be donated to a local charity shop. If you want, you can also
bring your sewing machine or knitting needles or <a class="glossary-term" href="/glossary/term/80"><abbr title="Embroidery can be so, so many things. This is the alpha term for most of the decorative needlearts. ‘Embroidery’ just means any kind of decorative stitching, which can include an endless variety of styles. If you make decorative stitches on fabric, you’re embroidering. You can work in any media on any surface in a free-form manner, along a pattern, or simply by repeating a stitch along a hem or cuff, or edge of a tablecloth. There are endless combinations of stitches and possibilities. Sublime Stitching patterns are designed for embroidery but can be used as templates for other kinds of embroidery as well. Other types of embroidery make use of specific tools and materials, and then earn new and unique names. ">embroidery</abbr></a> hoops or
whatever and spend the afternoon hanging out with other crafty types
fixing up your <span class="il">swap</span> finds, having fun and
sharing ideas. It is also a great way to recycle and upcycle! In case
you get hungry, we will have an assortment of amazing treats available
for you to buy and snack on. Donate a can of food and your treat is
free! We will use part of the $5 suggested donation and bake sale
proceeds to help buy/repair sewing machines for the after-school
