Meet the S'mores
Okay, hold everything. Are you kidding me? How cute is this family? How cool is it that dad is wearing a Weezer hat? (At first glance, I thought it was a Wonder Woman hat which admittedly, would be even cooler.) Now, I don't generally use blog posts for re-printing gushy emails of delight. (Instead I just read them ten times over to myself and then forward them on to my mom.) But when Amanda Anderson wrote in with this family photo and their multiple projects (thus, totally making my day) I couldn't keep this one from you:
I had often suspected that embroidery was very cool, and therefore, I was as well. But when I found your camping-themed embroidery pattern in a little craft shop in Solvang, California, I was certain.
I have a husband and two children and my eldest daughter nicknamed us "The Four S'mores" for our family camping trip last year. This summer, using your kit, I embroidered shirts for three of us, along with our code names (Marshmallow, Fire and Graham Cracker). My husband even based a painting on your campfire design, and made a sign for us to carry wherever we go camping. Thanks for the inspiration!
Hey Andersons! Thank YOU. xo
So Craftily!
Emily posted on her Craftily blog some really wonderful things she's made with my patterns! My dorky thrills at seeing what people stitch up never abates. These hooped embroideries (patterns from the Sublime Stitching Book)
are displayed over her kitchen window. I especially like how she added the curly-cues from another section of the book to create steam coming from the tea-pot. But check this out:
Soooo pretty! Dia de Los Muertos patterns mixed with sugar skulls and flowered vines from Embroidered Effects on a zippered pillowcase. Those kinds of creative re-workings are juuust what I like to see with my patterns. Mmhm. I sure do!
Little Rocket Girl
Check her out! Facebook friend Leah Jones tagged some photos of her daughter sporting a top she embroidered with my Rocket Girl from the Spaced Out! sheet. What sass! Look at those painted nails! Hands on hips! Pout and strut! Throw a tantrum and take a nap! I think we have a model in the making, people.
Pink Dots
I absolutely love this detail photo that Eva of Apple & Eve submitted to the customer gallery! And, this is also a grreat time to re-visit my satin stitch tutorial. Speaking of satin stitches, check out the incredibly creative satin stitches on this piece spied over yonder on Feeling Stitchy! You people are satin-stitching cray-zay. Which is good, because there just so happens to be a special project designed juuust for satin stitches in my new book, Embroidered Effects. I have told you that I have new book out right? I have? Okay, I kid, i kid.
Rad Rompers
I was just reminded of the supercuteness of this Daniel Johnston baby onesie, stitched up by Elsie Cake of Red Velvet Art. It occurred to me that you, dear readers, might enjoy it as much as I do. So many friends and family members have had babies this year! What better way to immediately establish myself as "the cool aunt" than decorating onesies with Sublime Stitching Artist Series patterns. Any tot who shows up in this is sure to have mad sandbox cred.
Deerie Me, That's Cute!
Fave Customer Submish!
Heather Murphy's submission to the Customer Gallery deserves special attention. I have gone back several times to admire it, and don't want it to be missed. What a gorgeous explosion of stitches! I see patterns from Dia De Los Muertos, Country Cool, Tattoo Your Towels, Sublime Stitching...and all combined in Heather's own, creative way. This is what I love to see from you stitchers! So, so pretty.
Em-boy-dery Craze Continues
Jordan a.k.a. "Sublime Stitching Shipping Head Honcho", just completed his first embroidery project! After a year of service at Sublime Stitching, he has finally softened to the needleworking bug.
He made this sweet tea towel with "I Luv Veggies" for his mom for her birthday, and Christmas presents are in the works. Apparently, he cursed a few times in beginner's frustration, but in the end found it to be an extremely rewarding and relaxing way to save money on presents. Next up: "embarassing boxershorts for his younger brother" - Hrmm...Can't wait to see what that means!
Frightening Stitches!
Oh, my! Look at what we found in our plastic-pumpkin-inbox this morning. From Average Jane Crafter, a twisted treat reminding us to check our Halloween loot!
Have a spooky (but safe) Halloween. Please remember to wear non-flammable costumes and watch out for the boogyman!
